Have you just read our newsletter and are looking to share your story? We are looking for your stories of migration and Caribbean-Canadian experiences. You can provide as many details as you like, and we will feature a new story every month! ! Please send us your Caribbean story, and it may be featured in our next newsletter. Don't forget to include your name and your contact information!

For those who are looking to submit a story, but have not thought about what to write, here are some key questions you may ask yourself to get the creative juices flowing:

  • Family Life and Childhood memories: Describe your family and any thoughts you had on growing up in the Caribbean, in Canada or in both places
  • Memories of Migration: What details do you remember about traveling to another country?
  • Leisure Time Activities: What did you do for fun? What music, movies, friends do you remember seeing or playing with?
  • Schooling: Where did you go to school? What was your favorite subject? What teachers did you have? Does the school still exist and have you visited it? What was that like? How was school different/same in Canada and the Caribbean?
  • Work: What was your first job? How was working in Canada different/same as working in the Caribbean? What did you want to be when you grew up?
  • Caribbean/Canadian connections: What family do you have here or back in the Caribbean? How often do you travel back? What are some changes you see to your town? What do you miss?
  • Impact of Technology: How has technology changed your life, if at all?
  • Memories That Stand Out: What celebrations, holidays, unusual experiences, personal accomplishments, do you remember?
  • Historical thoughts:  What was happening in the world at this time? What major historical moments have you lived through? What were they like?
